New Book by Joy Braybrook Reveals a Stunning Portrait of Melbournes Early Years

Australia (PRWEB) December 14, 2012

Author Joy Braybrook marks her debut in the world of literature with the book, John Batman: An Inside Story of the Birth of Melbourne. Seamlessly weaving history with imagination, Braybrooks work reveals a stunning portrait of Melbourne as a city yet to rise as a glittering metropolis within the southern hemisphere and a glimpse into the life of the man who was involved in its formative years.

Set in the early 19th century, the story follows the journey of John Batman and his prominent role in the establishment of one of the worlds greatest cities. John plans a quest to locate and utilize the rich pastures that have been reported to exist on the mainland. Finally after a decade, he travels to Port Phillip from Tasmania where an incredible discovery and odyssey waits to begin.

Port Phillip Bays potential was unknown until John staked his claim to the southern treasure. His group desired not just to reap riches from the land but to acknowledge the rights of the Aboriginal inhabitants. The tragedies and triumphs that John encounters unfold against the fascinating backdrop of a nation caught up in a whirlwind of change and progress.

Suffused with the zeitgeist of the times, John Batman: An Inside Story of the Birth of Melbourne is both a fascinating historic narrative and an unforgettable story of an ordinary man who dared to do the extraordinary.

New Book by Jane Leigh Offers Authors Story of Healing, Overcoming Abuse

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia (PRWEB) December 14, 2012

The powerfully moving, brutally honest and inspiring memoir My Nine Lives: A Psychotherapist’s Journey From Victim To Survivor (published by AuthorHouse) tells of the tumultuous life of renowned Melbourne-based Australian psychotherapist and Beyond Blue ambassador, Jane Leigh.

Born in Singapore, Leigh’s childhood was filled with emotional trauma. She suffered sexual assault at the hands of her parents and by priests of the Roman Catholic Church. She moved to Perth in Western Australia, and at 17 Leigh was raped and forced into a loveless marriage, leaving her a single mother of two children at the age of 23. Just as Leigh began her struggle for survival, she was hit by more devastating news the savage murder of her uncle David, the only true father she ever had.

Leigh was diagnosed with chronic depression and suffered a severe mental breakdown in 2002, when she was confronted with two choices: give up or stand and fight. Leigh chose to confront the crippling after-effects of her sexual abuse. From legally confronting the unethical methods of one of Australias largest private pathology companies to a series of failed, abusive relationships with men, Leighs touching story describes her long, arduous journey of counselling, therapy, self-discovery, and eventual healing.

Janes story is brutally honest, says Philip Armstrong, CEO of the Australian Counselling Association Inc. She does not use the book as a platform to excuse her actions or vilify the men who used her. The book is simply her story as she sees it and her story is one of inner strength, courage, honesty and a mothers love for her children.

Karen Chambers pens playful new childrens book, Cats in Flats

MELBOURNE, Australia (PRWEB) December 14, 2012

A spirited cat makes an unexpected arrival to a new home in Cats in Flats (published by Trafford Publishing), the colorful childrens book written and illustrated by Karen Chambers.

The book celebrates the joy of living and the cheeky and playful way that cats can be in our lives, Chambers writes.

Many children long for a pet of their own, but parents are often cautious about the responsibilities that come with caring for a pet. Puppies, kittens, rabbits and other creatures require a lot of time and commitment, but most pet owners would argue that the rewards of animal companionship far outweigh the costs.

Written in singsong rhyme and accompanied by Chambers unique, whimsical illustrations, Cats in Flats follows the adventures of a family adjusting to a new, unexpected member of their family.

This book is relevant as it affirms the readers connection to another life (the cat) and presents a positive way for a family to solve a problem in which both the family and the cat are ok.

About the Author

Karen Chambers grew up riding horses and spending long summers surfing on the east coast of Australia. After graduating from Melbourne University, she qualified as a teacher and worked in both primary schools and secondary education before the birth of her first son, Alexander. Two years after his birth, she completed her fourth year of study in psychology, graduating shortly after the birth of her second son, Nicholas. While raising her children, Chambers worked in adult education and training and in the mental health field. Now that her sons are grown, she has returned to academic pursuits and is currently completing her masters degree in psychology. Throughout her life, Chambers has pursued her interest in poetry and drawing. Cats in Flats was inspired by and written for her sons in celebration of their ginger cat, Bobby, and the happy and often hilarious adventures they all shared together. This is her first book.

Outcome of the 2012 Phenomenon Unlocked in New Book

MELBOURNE, Victoria (PRWEB) February 06, 2013

The Apocalypse. Ragnarok. Kali Yuga. The destiny of the earth and the human race has always been a subject of speculation and debate. This deeply rooted fascination has manifested in religion, culture, literature, the arts and even science. Author Peter Jolie invites readers to explore one of the topical beliefs involving this phenomenon in his book, What is God’s Secret Plan in Revelation Chapter 10?

December 21st, 2012, was the day that the earth and the sun lined up with the center of the Milky Way Galaxy. This event occurs only once every 26,000 years. Jolie describes this as Gods universal clock, a divinely designed occurrence marking the beginning of this era. Ingenious astronomers such as the Olmec, followed by the ancient Maya, from Central America whose civilization was only recently unearthed, already calculated this phenomenon hundreds of years ago. Jolie provides a compelling discussion of how this event coincides with the extraordinary predictions made in the Book of Revelation. He also unlocks the meaning of several popular symbols and what people must watch out for in the coming days. Other topics include the authors interpretation of the creation of the earth according to Genesis chapter one and a discussion on why Adam and Eve were created.

Timely and fascinating, What is God’s Secret Plan in Revelation Chapter 10? is a provocative study of the 2012 phenomenon and a closer look into one of the most controversial and intriguing books in the Bible.

For more information on this book, interested parties can log on to http://www.Xlibris.com.au.

About the Author

Peter Jolie was born, baptized and raised a Roman Catholic in the city of Melbourne, Australia. In recent years, he has taken a liking to attending modern day Christian churches, and likes to watch Christian programs on television. As a child, he was fascinated with reading his mum and dads encyclopedia, a 15 volume set made in the United States in the year 1949, called Richards Topical Encyclopedia. Much of his knowledge of the formation of the earth came from him reading about it in this encyclopedia.

Jolie had first believed that the events described in Revelation, chapter 10 would happen on the 21st of December, 2012, but now concludes the date marks the beginning of this era.
