Jordan Pine, founder of SciMark, a company specializing in direct-response television (DRTV) advertising, appears on Episode 77 of the marketing podcast PreneurCast.
The weekly podcast, hosted by entrepreneurs Pete Williams and Dom Goucher, covers business strategies and internet marketing techniques that can help entrepreneurs build their online and offline businesses.
Pine, a DRTV expert who has helped launched more than 200 products, including the EZ Eyes keyboard and the Magic Mesh screen door, discloses that the success of a DRTV product has to do with how it appeals to the market and how it is marketed.
He introduces ‘The Divine Seven,’ the summary of these criteria. One of the things I did when I first came into the business was to start to compile these notes into a pilot’s checklist of things to look for,” he narrates. “A successful DRTV product is a unique, mass market problem-solver thats priced right, easily explained, age-appropriate and credible.”

Despite this podcast edition being focused on television advertising, Goucher explains, “Regardless of the market or the business that youre in, this isnt just about direct-response TV ads or even TV ads at allits any kind of direct-response marketing where you want somebody to react to your message, so this is pretty much applicable to [any type of business].”
